Measure 1 would require proposed constitutional amendments to receive support from 60 percent of voters in order to pass, rather than a simple majority of 50 percent plus one.
North Dakota voters would continue to have the final say on constitutional amendments. Measure 1 doesn’t take power away from voters. It simply ensures that permanent changes to our Constitution have broad support.

CURRENTLY
A proposed constitutional amendment can pass with more than 50 percent of voters voting on the measure.
UNDER MEASURE 1
A proposed constitutional amendment would need 60 percent support to pass.
VOTERS STILL DECIDE
North Dakota voters retain the final say. Measure 1 doesn’t eliminate amendments or take voters out of the process.
